We all might have fallen prey to the myth of motivation. How so? Well, we all are using the absence of motivation as the reason to stop our achievements, our work, studies, and goals! We simply give up, and justify it by saying I am not motivated. Therefore, I cannot do it. When the motivation is there, it is great, but what about when we do not feel motivated. What are we supposed to do?
of us need a motivational work atmosphere, a motivating study group, a motivating teacher … But, what if all we need is a motivated “ME”! It is true that surrounding ourselves by motivated and motivating people is beneficial for our psychology and work. Yet, we cannot depend on our environment to feed our motivation. Motivation works approximately like love concept, the love you receive will never satisfy you unless you have enough self-love and self-esteem.
Sometimes even the self-motivation is absent. So, then what? Here comes the exact explanation of why the motivation is a myth! Motivation actually can fade away from time to time same as any other feeling as happiness or sadness. Today you might feel that the people around you are motivating, or you are enough self- motivated. The next day all you see is negative vibes , and if you believe that motivation is a must have thing for your success and achievements , then working on being motivated all the time will be energy consuming and at the end your main obstacle .
If motivation is a myth, then discipline is the reality. Discipline is mainly to do what needs to be done. With this being said, when we are not motivated, but disciplined we will still perform and keep our productivity. In fact, when we are disciplined, we are engaged into a productive routine, leading us to achievements, which produce the motivation.
As Jeff Haden, the writer of a book called “Motivation is a Myth” said “You feel motivated because you took action. Motivation is a result, not a precondition. You don’t need motivation to break a sweat. Break a sweat and you’ll feel motivated.”
